Upcoming Events: Powertrends 2018

Powertrends 2018: 13th International Exhibition and Conference on Directions for Energy, Power and Electricity

Powertrends 2018, which will be held at SMX Convention Center from September 4-6, 2018, will bring together key business leaders, developers, vendors, institutions and principal energy policymakers responsible for the development of the Philippine energy sector.

2018 has seen new developments in the Philippines’ energy sector. The passage of the Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Act has enforced new excise taxes on energy fuels, while the establishment of an Independent Market Operator for the local Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) has shifted a long-standing paradigm. Combined with the issuance of the Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS), the growing role of Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) as in the gas industry, growing digitization and technological innovation, the country’s energy future is being reshaped. This will also mean more choices for consumers, especially for renewable energy, and changes in underlying business models.

Under this year’s theme, Building a Resilient and Sustainable Energy Future: A Transformative Shift to Cleaner Energy, the event will incorporate 3 events:
  • PowerTrends, focusing on Power Generation, Transmission, Distribution and Management.
  • Energy Expo, focusing on Renewable Energy, Natural Gas/LNG, Oil and Gas Exploration, Coal Mining and Processing and Energy Efficiency and Management (including Smart Sustainable Cities)/
  • Electech/Lightech, focusing on Electrical Technologies and Lighting focusing on the latest technologies for energy efficiency and lighting.
